Proper Disposal

According to the USDA, other agencies and organizations there is a proper way to dispose of prescription and non-prescription medications. I did know that you are not supposed to flush them down the toilet.

A summary of what is recommended is to simply dissolve the drug in a plastic bag, using water and then add coffee grinds or cat litter or even dirt to the mix. Then, seal the bag and dispose in the trash.

The idea is to make the drugs unappealing to children and pets.

If you have not been disposing of drugs properly, it may explain why your hairless dog now looks like a sheepdog. You should have not thrown away that Rogaine. Or, if your kid suddenly loses fifty pounds and is wired - no more weight loss products in the trash. And, you sure don’t want Rover to eat thrown away Viagra.

You’d never be able to explain that to the vet.
