Have you ever wondered why they don’t make cowboy movies anymore? Probably because nobody wants to watch them. Maybe not.
There are so many things wrong with good old western movies. In today’s world, they violate everything. They are not politically correct. There is always an animal rights issue - horses forced to pull wagons and that sort of thing. And, worst of all, the characters have guns and smoke cigars.
If you add 'saving the girl' and doing the honorable thing, westerns just don’t sell. It is impossible for a lot of ‘progressive’ people to relate to a good old cowboy shoot’em up.
Watching TV today I saw a promo that "Tombstone", one of my favorites, would show later today. Don’t tell anyone, but I have "Outlaw Josey Wales" recorded and watch it from time to time.
I suppose I am getting old. At least I am older than I was last year. There weren’t any new western movies out then either.
I think True Grit was the last movie I understood.
