Unless you live on a remote island with no communication you will have heard about the West Nile virus epidemic in the Dallas, Texas area. It is quite serious with a number of deaths reported. Not so serious is the media coverage.
According to the media, we have planes flying missions to combat an enemy not seen. They are flying and spraying for mosquitos at night. Further more, the media has tried to alarm everyone with interviews with people that fear for their lives because of hazardous chemicals and planes flying so low they could crash onto roof tops. World War II didn’t get this much coverage and certainly not as much "what if" gobbledygook.
When I was a lot younger that now, we had trucks that sprayed for mosquitos once or twice per week. And they used DDT. All the kids on the block would run along or ride their bikes in the fog of the spray. Not only did we not die, we were protected from mosquitos breeding on us. That’s a good thing.
As a society, Americans want absolute safety. The problem is they still want to live an ordinary life. To those I say, "Ordinary life is full of dangers. According to the "experts" everything is bad for you or will kill you."
Just do what I do. I pick out the dangerous things I like. If I’m going to die anyway, I may as well enjoy it.
